Good post, I believe that it is possible, but as you say there is this stigma hanging over guys heads of a backwards Victorian attitude towards relationships and marriage.
I believe that two people can live together in harmony but this is again what ive always said about “knowing oneself” nobody can look for someone to be in a relationship unless they know what they want, otherwise they get locked into a relationship that’s “just good enough” and will inevitably fail, mainly for reasons sex, money, power/influence, looks (these are not gender specific)
However when you know what you want you can find what you want.
But I do agree that with all the advancements in women’s rights and so called equality that there should be equality in relationships.
Me and my girlfriend live apart and we treasure the time we have together and nether of us take the lead in a sense of making decisions and we always like to give something to each other so its nice to be treated, especially nowadays when women earn as much as men and are now exceeding them as the top money makers.
I think that our whole society not just relationships needs to be bought up to sspeeed with the 21st century instead of hanging on to old fashioned pre-war (ww2) model of living.

I think it does exist in a hetero world... it will be difficult to find though. How do I know? Because that's what I am looking for as well. As a woman, the men I come across either want me to carry their baby and be their sweet complacent wife, or want to objectify me to achieve their sexual fantasies without realizing that I am a person. Also, my desire to never have children, opinions about religion, and free thinking attitude tends to turn guys off. I will stay positive though, we all should. Good post.
