I’m going to catch a lot of flak for this one; it’s inevitable, yet, this must be addressed.
I tend to give women I associate with a one week window every month to be bitchy. Women, as wonderful as they can be sometimes, are usually a complete mess during their period, so learning how to deal with their obnoxiousness is essential to maintaining some sort of homeostasis in a relationship.

Premenstrual and menstruating women are a breed of their own. For the four days before and three days after a menstrual period has begun, women tend to be all over the place, ranging from pleasant to downright mean, ranging from semi-logical to completely and utterly illogical. By far, most women I spoke to about this topic conclude it is the worst part about being a woman. They have limited control over how they act, what they say, or what they feel.
Being men who like the company of women, we must learn how to combat their hormone-driven tirades in order to keep our sanity.
We start with the best solution.
Avoid her as much as humanly possible
Approaching this from the “relationship” direction, you should consider spending minimal time communicating or within physical proximity of your menstruating or soon-to-be-menstruating lover.
If you’re the person your woman tends to take her stress out on, like I am with my woman, spending a lot of time with her during the “window” is just asking for a headache. She will find every little reason to bitch about something, whether it is what you made her for dinner or that her boss thinks she is stupid. You won’t be able to avoid any of her venom.
Women tend to say very irrational things, therefore…
Don’t take anything she says seriously
I know a lot of men whose girlfriend dumped them during their period only to have a change of heart three days later. Women say stupid things when they’re bleeding from their vagina.
If your woman does or says something out-of-line or downright ridiculous, revert to rule one until she apologizes, and I mean UNTIL SHE APOLOGIZES. You must demonstrate that, although understandable, her behavior is not acceptable under any circumstance.
Think about it: If you were to act irrational and crazy, you would have to apologize, right? Any human who acts that way should be accountable for their behavior, but always remember…
Understand that she is not a man
Women and men react a bit differently to similar stimuli. If a man is angered, he might become violent while a woman might resort to crying or screaming. You cannot expect the two to function similarly in times of stress or trauma.
Just because you might have done things one way does not mean your woman is capable of seeing it the same. Don’t ever attempt to rationalize what she does; she is a woman and you will never be able to fully understand her behavior. Just continue to be a man, as you have been since birth (or since surgery).

I have to admit this pretty much tells it like it is. I’m always crazy during my time of the month. And this is a bit embarrassing, but I’m always a bit hornier too.
